Captains leading the way at Soho

Pine Needles

Art-school haircuts, beards and craft ale were the order of the day as the Soho League ushered in a new season. With more new boys than old, this could be a watershed season for Soho, as the likes of Gary Goldsmith take time out to reflect on their poor behavious over the festive period.

Very much avoiding the naughty step and quickly heading to the top of the class were The Captains, ably led by David Lovett. Their opposition, The Fruity All Stars, were clearly in trouble from the off as the well-drilled captains were egged on with a continual barking of orders from Chief Lovett. The off-season has clearly been spent working on tactics and incremental gains, as they put in a near perfect display to send the All Stars marching to a 4 hole loss.

New boys Molecester City made their mark from the get-go against the popular Top Goosers R Us. Starting on the front foot, and reeling off their very best scouse impressions, City got under the skin of their sartorially superior opponents and much like a dog with a bone, never let up for a second. Their unique brand banter combined perfectly with their effective golf to secure a valuable opening day win by a score of 2 Up. Tickets are already selling fast for the mouth-watering clash between Moleicester City and the Minty Biffs next Tuesday.

The Minty Biffs will be buoyed by a perfect performance against a much depleted FFCC that boasted none of their super-stars who were apparently too busy preening themselves. With this light workout to set their season going, the Minty Biffs will either be well-rested or lacking a decent workout ahead of next week’s anticipated clash.

Comments from insiders indicate that the Fruity All Stars are particularly juiced-up for the visit of the Top Goosers next week, to their favourite Old Palm resort. With legendary hospitality at the venue, next week promises to be a particularly raucous affair.
